Marc is born in Paris.

He is educated as an Optician engineer at the Institut d'Optique Graduate School Paris-Saclay (promotion 1962).

He has worked in the industry.

His Chess career:
1952-1958: school then university.
This culminates in the University Tournament of the French Championship, Le Touquet in 1958.
Becoming the vice-Champion of University France.

His interest in endgame composition starts in 1955 when he purchases a beautiful book by

Vitaly Halberstadt: "Curiosités Tactiques des Finales",

where he discovers the magic and poetry of studies.

He knew Vitaly Halberstadt at that time in Paris, Rive Gauche and in the Latin Quarter!

His own endgame composing starts in the 21st century.

 

His hobbies are Mountain - Mountaineering, skiing (sealskins). Today, snowshoes and hikes.

 

 He thinks that: "The Exchequer can wait a thousand years, before a great study arises there! "
