Lachezar Stanchev was born on 23rd April 1947 in the village of Gigen (Pleven region).

He graduated the Marine school in 1971 and he has been living in Burgas since then.

He was in the Navy from 1971 to 1992.

He graduated the Military Academy in Moscow (1979-1982), and there he got the title Chess Candidate master of Sports.

His affection for chess composition dates back to 1966 as a solver and he has been composing problems since 1985. He has composed and published about 20 problems andstudies from almost all genres up to now. 

But the studies are his favourite for composing and solving.

He has won prizes, honorable mentions and commendations and also he has 0.5 FIDE Album points.

He corresponds actively and participates mainly in Russian chess tournaments and in 2011 he was one of the organizers of the first tournament in solving chess problems during the Chess memorial“Alexander Hadjipetrov” in Burgas.
